Rust is simply a masterpiece. The songwriting on this album is nothing short of exceptional. In an already impressive discography I feel rust stands out for a number of reasons: the years of experience definitely shows in the playing, each member really shines here, Martin's guitar playing, Peter's bass, Eric's drumming, all deliver stand out performances that really take their playing to new heights. New vocalist Gabriel Keyes displays great vocal control and range and in my opinion is the best singer the band has had yet. I think even more than on past albums one thing that stands out are the vocal harmonies which really get stuck in my head on my favorite track "into the wild" The production on this album is fantastic and I think it may be the best sounding crashdiet album made yet. Among the great things about rust is that it at once sounds like a crashdiet album but also breaks new ground. It's just another reminder of why this band is not only the bar for modern hard rock but why they are one of the best bands in the world period.
